UCLA’s signature summer offering. Choose from over 800 in person courses that represent UCLA’s academic breadth, ranging from 6-10 weeks. Over 10,000 UCLA students and thousands of visiting students from across the United States and the world take Summer Courses each year.

UCLA Summer Online Course
Earn UCLA credits through summer online courses that offer flexible learning options for high school students. Designed for online education, these live courses allow students to meet academic requirements or pursue interests while collaborating with UCLA students and peers globally on assignments and projects.

PreCollege Summer Institution
The UCLA PreCollege Summer Academy offers motivated high school students challenging academic opportunities. In 1-3 weeks, students can earn college credits and engage in career development activities such as team projects, industry leader meetings, company visits, and guest lectures. This program provides an immersive learning experience beyond the classroom.

Summer College Immersion
The UCLA Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) offers exceptional high school students the opportunity to experience a comprehensive introduction to college life while studying alongside UCLA undergraduates. Designed to emulate the undergraduate experience, SCIP provides students access to a broad range of UCLA’s academic expertise and resources through lectures, workshops, and seminars, as well as UCLA coursework.
UCSB Undergraduate Pathway
with Transfer Admission Guarantee
The Undergraduate Pathway Program is a structured, step-by-step initiative designed to prepare high school graduates for admission to U.S. research universities. This program equips students with the skills and academic readiness required to excel in the rigorous environment of top universities. Offering exceptional, progressive preparation, Step UPP provides a clear pathway for success in higher education, fostering both academic and personal growth in a globally competitive landscape.

Freshman Year
35 Quarter UC Credits
Location: UCSB
Students spend one year studying at UCSB. During this period, they will have the opportunity to experience the academic atmosphere and lifestyle of UCSB, taking courses at the same level as regular UCSB students and utilizing the university's resources and facilities. This year of study allows students to better understand their academic interests and prepare for their future studies.
Sphoremore Year
63 Quarter UC Credits
Location: SBCC
Students enroll in second-year credit courses at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). By utilizing the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) agreement between the University of California and community colleges, students meet UCSB's minimum transfer requirements through their studies at SBCC and comprehensive academic planning. This guarantees their transfer to UCSB as juniors to complete their undergraduate degrees. Students can also apply to other top U.S. universities.
Junior & Senior Year
After completing the final two years of coursework at the transfer school, students receive the same diploma as other undergraduates.
